Katherine McCowan

Katherine started her teaching career in the Fall of 2003.  She was a special education teacher for Kindergarten, First and Second Grade students.  Katherine took a break from teaching after having her children and while they were babies, she worked for a non-profit organization where she was responsible for coordinating early literacy events for babies and their families.

When her children started preschool, Katherine found she loved volunteering on  campus.  She loved it so much, she eventually got hired to be a part of the staff.  Katherine worked at a local Phoenix preschool for two years before becoming the Lead Pre-K teacher at the EEC.  This will be Katherine's 6th year as the lead Pre-K teacher.

Katherine grew up in Miami, Florida and moved to Arizona in 1996 to attend Arizona State University.  In December of 1999, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from ASU, with an emphasis in special education. In December of 2002, Katherine graduated from ASU with a Master of Arts in Education, specializing in behavior disorders and emotional disabilities.

Katherine and her husband have been married for 13 years and have 3 children – a daughter and twin boys.  Katherine enjoys reading, spin classes, going on adventures with her kids, spending time with family and PLAYING in Pre-K!
